Obesity Facts - Advice and help from someone with personal experience

Obesity Solutions

obesity facts by AnnaAs you will see on obesity facts,  I have tried to avoid using the word diet in my own story, simply because it isn't a diet at all, but simply a different way of eating. In simple terms I now eat foods which are suited to my own body chemistry. To use the car analogy for a moment, it is like putting petrol in a diesel car - it doesn't run very well for very long! Put diesel in and everything works fine. An over simplification perhaps, but I'm sure you get the general idea. As you will see from the following, the food I eat is widely available, and the only thing I would say is that I am fortunate in working for myself, so I am able to prepare meals from scratch, ( although my husband does most of the cooking!!) and I have never eaten or ever wanted to eat processed or packet foods. Now one of the ironies is that in eating low or no sugar foods, I actually feel fuller for longer. Foods loaded with sugar stimulate the senses and the feeling of 'fullness' is over much quicker, so you feel hungry more quickly.

Obesity Fact - Food I Can't Eat

Let me start with the foods that I have to avoid, and in general these are any which have white flour or are cereal based. If we go back to the insulin index, and look at carbohydrate rich foods, then I avoid any food with an insulin score over 40, so I no longer eat pasta, rice, or potatoes, but I am allowed one slice of bread per day. It is the refined carbohydrates such as white flour and white rice and sugar that cause most of the problems, as they are converted to glucose in the body which is then stored in the fat cells. As an Italian, giving up pasta has been hard, but even this I only used to eat occasionally, so it has only been a minor inconvenience.

There are certain fruits that I have to avoid, particularly the exotic fruits such as pineapple, mango and bananas and grapes - you can see from the insulin chart the reasons why with 81 for bananas and 82 for grapes. In short, any fruit that has a high insulin score. Bakery products and most snack foods are off limits. So what can I eat? - the answer is a great deal!! Below is a table of a typical week's food and remember there are very few restrictions on quantity so if I am hungry I just have something else to eat - the irony is ( as I said earlier) that because I am eating foods which are balanced with my metabolism, I do not feel hungry.

Obesity Help - Food I Can Eat!

Fish, meat, eggs, cheese, butter, olive oil, most vegetables ( not parsnips), milk ( although I always drink soya), yoghurt, bread, fruit - a varied selection I think you would agree. Please note there is no calorie counting, or weighing involved which is a refreshing change! All cooking methods are permitted, including frying, so I can even have a fried steak if I feel like it with an egg! I am allowed to drink as much tea as I like, and some coffee although I do try to limit this to a cup every other day. I can drink alcohol, either 2 small glasses of wine, or a single spirit. Surprisingly I am also allowed 'light' fizzy drinks such as diet coke, diet lemonade as long as it is the diet version. So as you see, there is very little that I am not allowed. I comfort myself with the fact that I will live longer, and feel much healthier with more energy.

I hope you would agree that the above would not be recognised by most people as an eating plan, or dare I say diet, which it isn't. The above foods are insulin friendly and high in the essential oils which are necessary for good health and brain function. I must also stress that this is my own plan which has been designed for my own circumstances and which works for me. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you, but I hope that it may guide you in the right direction and help you to find the key to success in achieving your own weight loss. I know how important this can be, particularly for women, so I hope that in some small way I have helped one or two people to have a better understanding of how our bodies process food, and the role that insulin plays. Whilst I cannot blame the food industry entirely, I lay much of the blame for obesity at their door. At some point we have to turn our backs on the marketing hype and find our own solutions, For me that time has come, and I hope that it will for you also.
